Blind Dating (2007)

Premise: A charming young blind man signs up for a dangerous experimental procedure -- a brain surgery that may give him partial vision. While taking tests he falls hard for the lovely East Indian nurse, but she has been promised in an arranged marriage -- a promise she feels she cannot break without dishonoring her family, but when the man's brain surgery goes unexpectedly awry, the crisis effects a reunion between the two young lovers.

Maverick releases "Death Proof" movie soundtrack

Maverick Records will release the soundtrack to "Death Proof" - Quentin Tarantino's half of the new exploitation movie double feature Grindhouse - on April 3rd, three days before the two films hit theaters on April 6th. The second film, "Planet Terror," was directed by Robert Rodriguez. In between the two features, trailers advertising fake films, directed by Eli Roth and Rob Zombie, among others, will be shown.

Laura Ziskin reveals Oscar musical performers

Beyoncé, Melissa Etheridge, Jennifer Hudson, Randy Newman, Keith Robinson, Anika Noni Rose and James Taylor are all set to perform this year's Oscar®- nominated songs on the 79th Academy Awards show, telecast producer Laura Ziskin has announced.

Beyoncé will perform "Listen" (music by Henry Krieger and Scott Cutler, lyric by Anne Preven), one of three Original Song nominees from the musical Dreamgirls. Carter B. Smith to direct Ruins

DreamWorks has hired Carter B. Smith to helm The Ruins, a horror thriller set in the Yucatan jungles that's being produced by Stuart Cornfeld at Ben Stiller's Red Hour.

Universal to grasp Milli Vanilli

Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to make a film about Milli Vanilli, the duo that rose to the top of the pop charts and fell just as quickly when they were exposed as frauds. Jeff Nathanson will write the script and direct the film. Kathleen Kennedy will produce.

Matt Marsden starring in Rambo IV

British actor/singer Matt Marsden has booked a role in Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra. He'll play a mercenary who works with the title character in the Sylvester Stallone action movie. Filming begins on February 23 in Thailand.

Marsden has starred in Black Hawk Down and has roles in the upcoming DOA: Dead or Alive and Resident Evil: Extinction.

Columbia to produce a comedy with David Spade and Rock

Columbia Pictures has made a deal for an untitled comedy that will be written as a star vehicle for David Spade and Chris Rock. Spade will write the script with Fred Wolf and Adam Sandler's Happy Madison will produce.

The movie is about a turf battle between three families who vie for the same camping spot in a public park over a weekend.

Mark Wahlberg on The Departed sequel and prequel

Oscar-nominated Mark Wahlberg is much excited to work on The Departed sequel and prequel. 'Well, I enjoyed playing the character'," he said.

One of director Martin Scorsese's old friends may be lining up to join the sequel: "They're talking about bringing in De Niro to play a senator or a congressman," added Wahlberg. "You know, the corruption obviously going deeper and higher up the ranks — reaching up the political chain. So it'll be fun. And if it's a success, they're gonna do a prequel and bring everyone back... make it a trilogy."

According to the actor, screenwriter William Monahan is currently hard at work writing the sequel, and shooting could begin sometime at "the beginning of next year or end of this year."

Disney picks Shankman to direct Bedtime Stories

Walt Disney Pictures has set Hairspray helmer Adam Shankman to direct Bedtime Stories, a live-action comedy to begin production in August. Andrew Gunn will produce.

Matt Lopez's script revolves around a harried architect whose life is turned upside down when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew begin to come true. Shankman, Gibgot and Ann Marie Sanderlin are executive producers.

Shankman and his Offspring Entertainment partner Jennifer Gibgot are also developing a Topper remake that Shankman hopes to direct with Steve Martin starring, as well as a live-action Aladdin film being written by Bill Kelly (Enchanted).
