Randy Quaid and Jay Baruchel will star in the indie dramedy Real Time.
Randall Cole will direct from a screenplay he wrote. Julia Rosenberg, Paula Devonshire and Ari Lantos are producing.
The film centers on a hit man (Quaid) who gives an old acquaintance (Baruchel), a compulsive gambler, one hour to live.

DreamWorks has confirmed the studio will be exercising their option to produce a series of films based on famed Belgian cartoon series "The Adventures of Tintin."
Dreamworks will now enter into pre-production on the film, which should be in theaters in about two years. No further information was disclosed regarding the type of film to be produced, live action, animation or computer-generated, or which books will be adapted.
Nick Rodwell of Hergé added that "if movie No. 1 works, we will continue."
DreamWorks' Steven Spielberg first acquired the rights to the character back in 1983 and later re-established the option.

The Walt Disney Studios is in production on Toy Story 3, via its Pixar Animation Studios.
In an appearance during Disney's annual shareholder meeting in New
Orleans, Lasseter said: "We are finally in production on 'Toy Story
3'," adding the film is scheduled to come out in 2010. Tom Hanks and
Tim Allen are back on board to voice Woody and Buzz Lightyear,
respectively.
The screenplay is by Michael Arndt, who just won the original
screenplay Academy Award for Little Miss Sunshine, according to
Lasseter, who said: "We got a great story."

Helmer Seth Gordon is teaming with Little Miss Sunshine producers
Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa to direct Only Living Boy in New York for
Columbia Pictures. The "Sunshine" pair will produce the coming-of-age
drama through their Bona Fide Productions.
Written by Allan Loeb (Things We Lost in the Fire), the story centers
on a recent college graduate who is seduced by his father's mistress.
John Fogel will serve as an executive producer.

Universal Pictures has acquired the Nick Redfern novel "Three Men Seeking Monsters: Six Weeks in Pursuit of Werewolves, Lake Monster, Giant Cats, Ghostly Devil Dogs, and Ape-Men."
Hope around is to develop a film that could be a vehicle for Jon Heder, the Napoleon Dynamite star who's about to open opposite Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory.
In the book, three guys who've separately chased monsters and UFOs unite for one last hurrah, taking one last caravan to every place in the British countryside where monsters have allegedly been spotted.

Lakeshore Entertainment has set Penélope Cruz, Ben Kingsley and Patricia Clarkson to star in an untitled drama based on the Philip Roth novella Dying Animal. Isabel Coixete (The Secret Life of Words) will direct; production begins in April in Vancouver.
Nicholas Meyer wrote the script, having previously adapted Roth's The Human Stain for Lakeshore. The story is about a student who engages in a torrid affair with her professor and then returns years later with a revelation.
Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi will produce, and the film will be distributed through their output deal with MGM.

Welfare Queen writer Abdul Williams will write Lottery Ticket for Rogue Pictures. Music video director Erik White will helm the film produced by Evolution's Oren Koules and Mark Berg.
Rogue bought the urban comedy based on Williams' treatment. The story revolves around an 18-year-old living in the projects who must keep his winning lottery ticket a secret over a three day weekend. White, who grew up in the projects, said lottery tickets were a topic of endless discussion in his neighborhood.
"We were always wondering why some old guy in Utah who already had two houses was winning," White said. "This is all about the anticipation."

Drake Bell ("Drake and Josh"), Kevin Covais ("American Idol"), Andrew Caldwell (Transformers, "Hannah Montana") and Haley Bennett (Music and Lyrics are set to star in Element Films and State Street Pictures' youth comedy College, directed by Deb Hagan.
From a screenplay by Dan Callahan and Adam Ellison, College centers on three high school seniors who have the wildest weekend of their lives when they visit a nearby college campus as prospective freshmen.
Gary Owens and Ryan Pinkston (Punk'd) also star. Lionsgate will distribute.

Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis are toplining dark comedy Poor Things with Ash Baron Cohen (cousin of Sacha) directing.
MacLaine will also produce with Rob Hickman through his new Still Rolling Productions. Shooting is expected to start in May.
Trent Haaga's script was inspired by real news events and crime scandals surrounding recent arrests and convictions of elderly women for various "grandma gang" exploits, which have included scams and cons involving drug sales, insurance fraud and murder.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided not to attend the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday (25FEB07), even though Pitt's film BABEL was nominated for Best Picture.
