Due to a snafu (my own fault), I did not have a seat at Tuesday night's Iron Man screening in Philadelphia. So while everybody who is anybody hereabouts was giddily watching Tony Stark transform from an arms dealer to an ass-kicking, metal-suited superhero, I was in a different theater one block away watching Patrick Dempsey be a bridesmaid in Made of Honor. There'll be a Cinematical review of the movie on Friday, but for now I'd like to ask a very specific question: what on earth could that title possibly mean?

If true, this is a bad move. PR Insider reports that Sylvester Stallone is in negotiations with Sony Pictures to revise his character Cliffhanger, er, Gabe Walker, in a sequel to 1993’s Cliffhanger, which grossed $84 million domestically and $200 million plus worldwide. The sequel will be entitled The Dam, which automatically makes me think of the “surefire” pitch that became 1996’s megaflop Daylight: Stallone versus dam tunnel. And, I’m so sure, there are challenging cliffs to hang from on a dam.

There's nothing quite like a helping of George W. Bush to get the blood pumping and fill your head with visions of lust and romance...right? No? Okay, maybe only if you're Laura Bush. Nevertheless, a documentary made about his 2000 presidential campaign, Journeys with George, is going to be made into a fictional movie. Reuters reports that filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi, the daughter of Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of the House), is going to adapt her doc into a romance, at the urging of Steven Zaillian -- the Oscar-winning writer of Schindler's List. I guess if there's anyone to convince someone of writing something, it'd be him!

Sony Pictures and Mark Steven Johnson's adaptation of Marvel Comics Ghost Rider, starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes, rode home with an estimated $15.9 million its opening Friday, about $600,000 more than Johnson's Daredevil opened with over President's Day weekend four years ago.
With that impressive of an opening, Ghost Rider is looking likely to set a new record for a President's Day weekend opener if it hold up well enough to make over $45.1 million over the four-day weekend. (UPDATE: It has come close to making that amount in just three days, which means it will be setting a new holiday record likely to be over $50 million.) ...more click on heading

Sony is bringing Konami's hit videogame franchise Metal Gear Solid to the big screen.
Metal Gear Solid has sold more than 20 million units since 1998, but its roots date back even further; the first "Metal Gear" game came out in 1987. The stealth action title became one of the industry's biggest hits and has four sequels, the last three of which came out under the "Metal Gear Solid" moniker. Another sequel is set for release this year.
Michael De Luca will produce the adaptation, with videogame creator Hideo Kojima as executive producer.

Winslet is absolutely sure of one thing: The Holiday is not a chick flick. She says “I don’t feel like this is a chick flick. …That’s not me trying to sort of plug or sell the movie in a whole other way, but I don’t because you know it really is about relationships. It’s about two separate relationships that happen with women and men. And actually there are more men in the film than there are women, which was something that Nancy [Meyers] pointed out to me a couple of days ago - even though I was aware of that…..more click on heading
