Christopher Lee attended the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival this week, and our friends from RushBlogg, Karsten and Eirik, were on hand to talk to him. Of all the attendees, Meinich was the only one who asked Lee about his involvement in The Hobbit. Lee's answer came as quite a surprise -- first, he's adamant that he won't be appearing in The Hobbit, because as we all know, Saruman isn't in the book. This comes as no surprise -- Lee is a Tolkien purist (thank goodness!) and he won't allow himself to be shoehorned in, even if Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro were interested in doing so.

With the arrival of this weekend's Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, we find ourselves (once again) discussing *damn* how great a genre filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is. I mean, he's a wonderful filmmaker all around, but I include the word "genre" as an indication of my respect for the man.

November 21 is slowly inching closer, and Potter Mania is starting to heat up. Just in time for the Fourth of July, we've got a whole slew of new Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince pics to enjoy. There are seven tasty shots over at USA Today, including the one above, plus another two over at Moviefone.

Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant cast just became a whole lot crazier. Variety is reporting that Val Kilmer and Xzibit are joining Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes in the much-maligned remake / re-imagining / re-something of Abel Ferrara's cult classic.

Empire has been given an exclusive new photo from the highly anticipated remake of The Wolf Man. Click the photo to the right to see the whole thing, and then feel free to begin eagerly anticipating April even more than you already are. (Woohoo, April!) The pic respresents the first official non-lupine look at Benicio del Toro as Lawrence Talbot.

Ya know, after the 457th poster was released for The Dark Knight, I said to myself, "That's it! I'm done! They've convinced me to see it!" But then they go and give us another ridiculously cool poster (click image to enlarge) and I'm just speechless.

Movie stars can get a stylist, remove those errant eyebrow and nose hairs, and even get some high-dose skin cleaner to make themselves smooth, shiny, and sexy; if all else fails, there are legions of makeup artists to make the men and women of Hollywood look as hot as possible.

To the right, you can check out a small version of the Death Race poster, which you can check out in all its big glory over at ShockTillYouDrop. It's a little too serious for my tastes, but what do you think? I mean, it's obvious that this flick won't be half as campy as the original, but methinks the carnage should be given the most focus, rather than a bunch of actors putting on their best "serious face."

Now this looks pretty damn cool. Amidst our somewhat crazed anticipation for The Dark Knight, I bet most of you forgot we were getting a direct-to-DVD anthology of six animated Batman stories called Batman: Gotham Knight.

Over at USA Today, they did a little feature on the Avengers movie, and while most of it is old news (Tony Stark at the end of The Incredible Hulk, Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man, who they are, what this means, etc.), there was one new item for fans to chew on. Jon Favreau revealed the Avengers line-up Marvel was currently toying with:

Perhaps sensing that the dough was going to rise (ha!) on this puppy, Papa John's Pizza is sponsoring the new trailer for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor over on director Rob Cohen's blog, in preparation for the three-quel's forthcoming premiere on big screens and large pizza boxes everywhere come August 1.

She's been voted the number one sexiest girl in the history of the universe times twelve by every single magazine that ever existed ... but what people really want to know is: How do you direct someone that hot? Well, thank heavens for dudes like Michael Bay, who's just made the difficult task a whole lot easier for future directors (aspiring or working).

It's a show-too-much trailer, which is missing some of the original's goodness, but I have to admit: My interest was piqued by the Death Race trailer that Erik shared last week. There were three things that got me: Joan Allen, Ian McShane, and "Welcome to the Jungle." Mixed together, they're enough to get me into the theater on a rainy day, hoping that it's an '80s rock fest of driving action. But now there's an official, tasty fourth reason. MTV has confirmed that David Carradine has a cameo.

On June 5th, production began on Angels and Demons, the sequel (wait, wasn't the book a prequel?) to tepid religious mystery/global mega-hit The Da Vinci Code. On June 9th, Jessica Barnes brought to our attention a couple of photos from said shoot. And as of June 16th, the Vatican has formally denied the long-awaited request on behalf of the filmmakers to film crucial scenes within the critical churches

Movie-turned-musicals didn't do so well at the Tony Awards last night, but that doesn't mean people are going to stop adapting films for the stage. For instance, according to The Daily Telegraph, John Cleese is turning his hit movie A Fish Called Wanda into a musical. He's currently writing it with his 24-year-old daughter, Camilla, who he claims is even funnier than he is.
