Baz Luhrman’s Australia was occupying all of Fox’s stages in Australia, where Wolverine is to shoot, and as a result the film might not get done before the SAG strike this summer, delaying it for the foreseeable future...

Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) wil star oppposite Keanu Reeves in The Night Watchman, the James Ellroy-scripted drama that David Ayer will direct.
The film, co-financed by Fox Searchlight and New Regency, begins production May 21. Alexandra Milchan, Lucas Foster and Erwin Stoff are producing.
Reeves was set last month to play a member of an elite group of LAPD cops who questions the ruthless tactics he has used to become such an effective force in solving murders and battling gang violence and drugs.
Whitaker will play a captain of the elite unit called Ad/Vice.

Jason Bateman ("Arrested Development") and Allison Janney ("The West Wing") have signed to co-star in director Jason Reitman's second film Juno, joining Jennifer Garner, Michael Cera with Ellen Page playing the title character, a high school girl confronted with a teenage pregnancy. Similar to last year's awards show darling Crash, Thank You for Smoking was released in theaters early on in the year. The first few months are normally used by studios as the designated dumping ground for films they don't have much confidence in. And unless the studio launches a killer ad campaign, decent films released in January through March each year miss the boat when it comes to gathering awards which, in the case of Smoking, is a real shame.
Buyers for Paramount Classics apparently believed they had snatched up "Thank You for Smoking," a film that was warmly received by Toronto audiences, for a cool $6.5 million. However they soon learned Fox Searchlight was claiming they had closed a deal and would be distributing the dark comedy......more click on heading
