David O. Russell Vs. James Caan
Posted on Apr 27 2008 4:31 AM by adnana

FilmDrunk brings to our attention to the latest David O. Russell on set drama. This time, it seems the temperamental director of “I Heart Huckabees” and “Three Kings” took his aggression out on James Caan on the set of “Nailed" after the actor disputed the best way to choke on a cookie. As a result, James Caan has left the political comedy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trouble started Wednesday on the first of Caan’s two days of shooting the role of a U.S. speaker of the house who chokes to death on a cookie. Russell asked him to cough as he choked, but Caan argued that the character couldn’t cough and choke to death at the same time.

Posted on Apr 25 2008 2:33 AM by adnana

Could Keanu Reeves be ready to return to doing martial arts? That’s the word in an interesting little tidbit picked up by JoBlo from a site called Wu-Jing.org.

They caught up with Keanu Reeves in Korea, where he revealed that he’s been talking to Matrix stunt choreographer Yuen Wo Ping about doing a new kung fu movie. The film is called Tai Chi Tiger, and Keanu would be the villain. A guy named Tiger Chen Hu would star as the movie’s hero, a Tai Chi master.

Scarlett Loses Part Because She's Too Old
Posted on Apr 19 2008 3:32 PM by adnana

Scarlett Johansson was just stripped of her role in the upcoming Napoleon and Betsy because the producers thought she was too old.

What makes this even more awkward is that Scarlett is one of the producers of the movie as well. Hopefully she didn't take it too hard when the role was then offered to 18 year old Emma Watson from Harry Potter.

Thurman's Rings Trilogy Regret
Posted on Apr 19 2008 3:29 PM by adnana

Uma Thurman can't watch the ''Lord of the Rings'' films because she had to turn down a leading role in the trilogy.

The actress is still disappointed she couldn't take the part because she had just given birth to daughter Maya-Ray.

She said: "Yeah, I was asked. I wish I had done it. I had a small child at the time, and I couldn't go away for a year. I was just too attached to home. It just caught me at the wrong moment."

No Romantic Comedies for Johnny Depp
Posted on Apr 18 2008 5:54 AM by adnana

Don't hold your breath for a Johnny Depp romantic comedy, because the A-lister finds the genre "boring."

He says, "There is a dark side in me, like in each one of us. I only feel the fun factor when turning to a dark role, like in my most recent film Sweeney Todd.

"I wouldn't want to be in a romantic film, where it's about the boy meeting the girl, losing the girl, and getting her back. That would really bore me to death."

Heidi Turns Down Hills Movie Role
Posted on Apr 16 2008 6:04 AM by adnana

"I’ve never discussed a movie possibility for The Hills…and I’m not sure if for my first movie I’d let Lauren Conrad narrate me, so I don’t think that would be something I would do. If I was doing movies, I’d want it to be with Denzel Washington or something like that. If they were to make a Hills movie, I wouldn’t be in it. No, thank you."

Jason Reitman Turns Down "Justice League"
Posted on Apr 12 2008 1:59 PM by adnana

Juno director Jason Reitman was also on the Howard Stern Show today and revealed that he turned down an offer to direct Justice League of America for Warner Bros. Howard’s first question was “How’s the script?”

“Good, FINE… You know, I mean. I had to sign something, they send me the script and it comes on this spy paper which cant be xeroxed,” revealed Jason Reitman. “They have a time when I have to have the script back to them and the script is fine and I could be spending…” Jason later continued: “What am I going to do with Justice League of America? So Basically I’ll make a movie that is not as good as X-Men, then I’ll be the guy who made a movie not as good as X-Men. Where just like you talking about, going to smaller stations, if I make another small movie, and it’s really good, it performs well…” “Right now I’m thought of as a particular type of director. I’ve got an oscar nomination. I’ve made two indie films that play film festivals that are considered thoughtful. I want to stay in that world, I like making those type of films.”

A woman who was ordered to stay away from Hollywood actor John Cusack has been arrested on suspicion of stalking the star and violating a restraining order.

Authorities were called to the High Fidelity star's Malibu, California, neighborhood on Sunday night after a taxi driver reported a passenger who failed to pay a fare.

Keanu Reeves Says He Turned Down ‘Watchmen’ And ‘Speed Racer’ Roles
Posted on Apr 01 2008 3:51 AM by adnana

Clearly Keanu Reeves has become perhaps THE go-to guy for cool sci-fi/genre properties in recent years (funny how a mega-blockbuster trilogy like “The Matrix” will help something like that). By the end of the year Keanu is going to add Klaatu to his roster of iconic roles in “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, but there could have been even more on his geek-friendly resume. Just the other day he admitted to MTV News that there were two other high-profile roles he recently turned down, in the form of Dr. Manhattan AND Racer X!

Yes, Reeves confirmed the long whispered of rumors that he’d been offered the role of Dr. Manahattan in Zack Snyder’s eagerly anticipated adaptation of “Watchmen.” Saying he was absolutely interested in the role but had to pass because it simply “didn’t work out,” Reeves still expressed his enthusiasm for the “Watchmen” project.

“I went to the set,” he recalled. “They were shooting in Vancouver while we were filming so I went over to the set to say, ‘hi.’ They showed me some stuff and it looks amazing! I can’t wait. It’s going to be so killer, man!”

Sacha Baron Cohen Causes Outrage in Kansas
Posted on Mar 30 2008 2:12 PM by adnana

Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen has sparked outrage in Kansas--by stripping down to a pair of hotpants and terrorizing locals.

The actor is currently filming his latest movie Bruno--a mockumentary about a homosexual Austrian TV host--and gathering footage of his interaction with locals.

But the oddball character's outrageous dress sense has not gone over too well with respectable Kansans, and local newspapers have reported that a "European man" was "putting security on red alert" by "stripping down to tight shorts and dancing in the lobby of Wichita Airport."

And the hijinx hasn't ended there--Cohen and his crew are reported to have disrupted an Easter play at a Kansas church by turning up in "chains."

The Greatest Tom Cruise Impression Ever…is From Superhero Movie?
Posted on Mar 27 2008 10:32 AM by adnana

As much as I will forever remain a fan of Tracy Morgan’s “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah,” I won’t be checking out Superhero Movie in theaters this weekend. Insert commenter saying, “yeah Hunter, but it’s still worth a torrent.” But Slashfilm would like to salute young actor and Harvard alum Miles Fisher for easily giving the best impression of Tom Cruise we’ve ever seen in the yuk-yuk comic book spoof. The nostalgic mannerisms, the curious energy, the perma-grin, the laser beam concentration and the confident laugh of a motivated, nicely groomed champion are all here. Word is The Cruise slays in this summer’s Tropic Thunder, but until then, bask in Fisher’s superhero-worthy performance.

Catherine Zeta-Jones Is A Cougar
Posted on Mar 21 2008 6:13 AM by adnana

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been raising eyebrows for years thanks to her marriage to Michael Douglas, who’s actually old enough to be her dad (He’s 64, she’s 39!) But in an upcoming movie, Zeta-Jones will play the older member of an unlikely couple that bridges the generation gap. Catherine will be, shall we say, a cougar.

She’ll star in an untitled romantic comedy from Bart Freundlich, a director better known for his marriage to Julianne Moore than the quality of his work. Zeta-Jones plays a single New York City mom who starts a relationship with a 25-year-old man. The Hollywood Reporter points out, creepily, that Freundlich is married to an older woman, and may have based the story on his own life.
